FOTD & OOTD: Business Casual 6/20/13

Hey guys! So today I will show you the makeup and outfit I wore to shadowing today! The dress code was business casual, so I figured it would be a good thing to show you guys what I would wear when that dress code is applied! I also kept my makeup very natural, I just aimed on enhancing my features and concealing any blemishes.

Face:
BareMinerals Well Rested Concealer
Covergirl and Olay Simply Ageless Concealer in Light
Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3 in 1 Foundation in Medium Beige - Review
Elf Studio High Definition Powder in Sheer
Elf Studio Golden Bronzer in Golden

Eye:
Anastasia Beverly Hills Clear Brow Gel
Buxom Lash Mascara in Blackest Black
Elf Eyeshadow Palette in Neutral (Used only the darkest brown on the bottom right on my upper lash line)
Elf Studio Eyebrow Kit in Medium
Rimmel Scandaleyes Kohl Kajal Waterproof Eyeliner in Nude (Waterline)

Lips:
Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Honey

Outfit:
Fashion Pearl Earrings Purchased at Macy's
Giani Bernini Handbag, Block Signature Tote Purchased at Macy's
Guess Belt
I. N. San Francisco Brown Suit Pants Purchased at Macy's
Lauren Ralph Lauren Navy Blue Blouse
Rose Necklace from Forever 21
Steve Madden Mary Jane Pumps Purchased at Macy's

Since the dress code was business casual, I opted to wear suit pants and a nice blouse. This look can easily be converted to business formal if I wore the matching suit jacket. In other news, I just purchased a NuMe curling wand! It's my first curling wand purchase and I can't wait to get it in the mail so I can try it out! I'm also still struggling to find time to record the audio for my Get Ready With Me Video... :/

What do think about this outfit? Let me know in the comment section below!

Nails of the Day 6/23/13!

I'm Wired (Taken with Flash)

Another Nails of the Day Post! I'm still trying out the Sephora by OPI Life's a Beach Mini Kit. The color I am wearing today is I'm Wired. While this may be my favorite nail polish color yet, I do not like the streakiness of this nail polish. I'm Wired is a beautiful coral nail polish whose color lays more on the orange side of corals then pinks. This nail polish contains 3.75 mL (1/8th Fl Oz) and works well with my skintone. While I do like this color, I probably would not repurchase this nail polish because of the streakiness. This nail polish was more opaque then other nail polishes in the collection, but that isn't enough to convince me to buy it. I'm sure there are plenty of nail polishes on the market that are similar to I'm Wired and are of higher quality. I still would prefer buying mini sizes of nail polishes, just because a) I'm not a nail junkie and b) I won't get disappointed if the polish ends up being a dud.

What do you guys think of the nail polish? Let me know in the comment section below!

Mally Beauty Coming to Ulta!

Hey guys! I just wanted to inform you (if you didn't know so already) that Mally Beauty is coming to Ulta! It is now currently available online at Ulta.com but it will come in select stores on August 11th!

I've heard amazing things about the line from emilynoel83 on Youtube and Beautybroadcast.net. For those of you who do not know much about the makeup line, Mally Roncal is a professional makeup artist who has worked on high profile celebrities such as Beyoncé and Jennifer Lopez. To me, what stands out most about her makeup line is what she calls "bulletproof" beauty. These products are what claim to be long lasting, user-friendly, and multitasking! I haven't tried any of her products before, but I am excited that they will be coming into stores in August! Mally's Beauty is not tested on animals, which is something I appreciate! As such, here is a wishlist of products I want to try from Mally!

Review of CoverGirl OutLast Stay Fabulous 3 in 1 Foundation

CoverGirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3 in 1 Foundation in Medium Beige

Claims: All-Day Fabulous Coverage. Lasting Power of a Primer, Coverage of a Concealer, and blendability of a foundation in one. Shine Free.
Coverage: Medium to Full
Price: $7-13
Size: 1 fl oz, 30 mL
Shades: 14 Shades.
Where can it be purchased: Most Drugstores (I purchased mine at Target!)

As requested by Fairestfavorites, I will be reviewing the CoverGirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3 in 1 Foundation. I've been trying this foundation for the better part of a month now, and I have to say I really enjoy this foundation. I'm highly skeptical of foundations for oily skin, and I'm even more skeptical foundations that can withstand Florida weather. However, I can safely say that I would recommend this foundation for girl's with oily skin and who live in hot, humid climates such as Florida.

The foundation comes in a glass container with a pump. While I am not particularly fond of makeup coming in glass containers (mainly resulting from the potential breakage during Travel), I'm very glad that this foundation has a pump that locks. The coverage is very buildable for this foundation, I usually do 2-3 pumps of this foundation and it gives me a medium-full coverage look. I like applying this foundation with a cosmetic sponge or my fingers. The foundation blends into my skin the easiest like with this type of application.

Pauline with No Makeup! No Flash, Just Natural Lighting. It's amazing how different lighting is when you smile....

Pauline with Only Foundation! I only used 2 pumps of the Foundation. It was a Medium Coverage, all the redness on my face and the majority of my acne scarring was concealed. I did not apply any foundation underneath my eye today (I accidentally forgot!), but when I normally do it also covers up the majority of my  dark circles.

Pauline with a full face of makeup! I used a majority of my overall favorites (probably will do a post on that eventually!). Still no flash, natural lighting is so tricky to get it consistent!

This foundation wears really well. When the Floridian weather is in the high 80's with humidity, I will start getting oily after the 5 hours (without any makeup setting spray, setting powder, or primer). I have used both Rimmel's Stay Matte Powder in Translucent and Elf Studio HD Powder in Sheer and they have increased the lasting power of this foundation to 8 hours without getting oily. However, regardless of whether or not I wore setting powder or not, this foundation never broke down on me. Never. I have worn this foundation (with Elf HD Powder) for 14.5 hours (and even went to the beach that very same day), and the foundation looked as good as when I initially applied it. Quick timeline of beach day: Put on my makeup at 8:30, Blotted my face at 2, Arrived at the Beach at 6, Came home at 11. I didn't plan on going to the beach, only blotted my face once, and did not touch up at all that day. Everything was still intact when I went home to remove my makeup! I have never had my makeup last as long as it has without breaking down.

This foundation covers my imperfections and balances my skintone very well. Most of the time, I do not feel the need to wear any additional concealer. I am, however, content with a bit of my acne scars showing through. For a more full coverage look, I tend to use switch around and use a combination products such as BareMinerals Well Rested, Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer, and Maybelline Dream Touch Lumi in Buff. However, I can also get a relatively full coverage look with 3-4 pumps of this foundation. While this is a liquid foundation, it sets to a powder finish, which is great for mattifying the skin. While this is not a matte foundation, it works wonders for oil control! This foundation does not feel heavy on my skin and doesn't cake up, even if I use 4 pumps worth on my face!

If you had combination/oily skin or live in a humid climate like Florida, I highly recommend you try it. I recommended one of my coworkers this foundation (she also has oily skin) and she loves it. Due to Florida's eractic weather, I will probably never wear this foundation all by itself and use either of the setting powders I have mentioned previously. My only quirk about this foundation is that it doesn't cover like a concealer as Covergirl claims and that the foundation transfers easily. But honestly, I don't really mind that much and it isn't a deal breaker for me.  The majority of my hyperpigmentation and acne scarring is concealed, and I am satisfied with that on a normal day basis. This foundation doesn't scream "I'm wearing makeup" on my face, which is something I definitely like!

What do you think about this foundation? Do you think you will try it? Or do you not agree with me? Let me know in the comment section below!

Face of the Day: 6/18/13!

Hey guys! It's time for another Face of the Day: Workplace Makeup Style! Although I used a heck of a lot of products, this actually ended up being a somewhat natural look...I'm not sure how that really happened lol.  I received a lot of complements throughout the day wearing this makeup! If you are interested, check out what products I used to obtain this look!

Face:
BareMinerals Eye Brightener in Well Rested
Bobbi Brown Corrector in Porcelin Peach
Korres Pomegranate Mattifying Primer
Lancome Dual Finish Powder in Matte Nu II
Lancome Teint Miracle in Buff 6 W
Mac Fix + Spray
Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer in Custard
NYC Bronzer in Sunny
Tarte 24 Hour Amazonian Clay Blush in Magic

Eyes:
Anastasia Beverly Hills Clear Brow Gel
Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Whiz in Brunette
Buxom Lash Mascara in Blackest Black
Elf Eyeshadow Palette in Neutral
Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze
Rimmel Scandaleyes Kohl Kajal Waterproof Eyeliner in Black
Sephora Eyeshadow Primer
Tarte MultiplEYE Lash Enhancing Primer

Lips:
Mac Lipstick in High Tea

How I Applied My Makeup:
1) I first applied Korres Pomegrante Mattifying Primer all over my face
2) Then, using my Elf Studio Small Stipple Brush, I applied by Lancome Teint Miracle in Buff 6 (W) all over my face.
3) I then used Bobbi Brown Corrector in Porcelain Peach underneath my eyes to conceal my dark circles and BareMinerals Eye Brightener in Well Rested to set my under eye concealer.
4) Next, I used Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer in Custard on my acne scars and blended it out with a regular cosmetic sponge.
5) I then lightly applied Lancome Dual Finish Powder in Matte Nu II to set my makeup.
6) After this I started to work on my eyes. I used Anastasia Beverly Hills' Brow Whiz in Brunette and Anastasia Beverly Hills' Clear Brow Gel to fill and set my eyebrows.
 7) I then applied my Sephora Eyeshadow Primer all over my lid and into the crease. I then used Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bold Gold all over my lid as a base. Next, I used the first eyeshadow from Elf Eyeshadow Palette in Neutral that I labeled #1 and placed on my brow bone and inner corner of my eye as a highlight. The next eyeshadow used was #2 and it was placed all over my eyelid. Lastly, eyeshadow #3 was used to add definition to the crease of my eye.
8) I used Rimmel Scandaleyes Kohl Kajal Eyeliner in Black on my upper lash line, tightline, and waterline. I had a slight cateye for the eyeliner on the upper lash line and I only line three quarters way on my waterline. Lastly, I first applied Tarte MultipEYE Lash Enhancing Primer on my eyelashes and then applied Buxom Lash in Blackest Black to finish up my eye makeup.
9) I used NYC Bronzer in Sunny all over my face in a big 3 motion. For blush, I used Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Magic on the apples of my cheeks.
10) Lastly, I used Mac Lipstick in High Tea and Mac Fix + Spray to finish off my whole look!

My Top 10 Drugstore Items!

Hey guys! So today I will be showing you my top 10 drugstore items! These are the items I essentially must own at all times. Or else! Check out what these products are below! I also decided to get Bloglovin', so if you feel like it, follow me at http://bloglovin.com/asianhomie101!

Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3 in 1 Foundation in Medium Beige

While it may be the only drugstore foundation that I have tried so far, it is by far the best foundations (out of the 5) that I own. This foundation is not cakey one bit, and the staying power of this foundation is fantastic. I have worn this foundation for 8 hours without any primer or makeup setting powder and the foundation did not break up! My detailed review on this product will be posted by Friday, so be on the lookout for what I have to say about it!

Elf Studio Blush in Pink Passion

This is my favorite blush that I own. It is a vibrant pink that is very pigmented. The blush might be scary at first, but with a light hand, this blush could easily be used for a natural, everyday makeup look. The only downside about this blush is that it did have a hard layer that I had to overcome before the pigment really showed through. I just rubbed the top layer off enough so that the true pigment will show.

Elf Studio High Definition Powder in Sheer

Talk about an amazing setting powder for foundation. This has lengthened the staying powder of my foundations. The powder is not cakey and does not cause a white cast when I take photos with flash. I just use the powder puff it came with, to better mattify my skin and minimize the amount of powder I will be adding. I definitely recommend this powder in anyone's makeup kit!

L'Oreal Infallible 24 Hour Gel Lacquer Eyeliner in Blackest Black

This is my favorite gel eyeliner; it lasts all day and is the blackest eyeliner I own! The brush that comes with the eyeliner works wonderfully to apply this eyeliner. I can even use this on my waterline and tightline and it will not budge the entire day!

Maybelline Baby Lips in Peach Kiss

I was highly skeptical in trying the Baby Lips out at first. Until I had one, I could not understand the craze that went behind it. However, once now that I have two, I'm ready to run out and buy the whole collection! The baby lips collection primarily compose of lip tints that are extremely moisturizing. On days where I'm wearing almost no makeup (like today), you can guarantee that I am wearing one of these! I also love using these to moisturize my lips in the morning and night as well as using them underneath my other lip products!

Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze

This is a versatile cream eyeshadow base. This is my longest wearing cream eyeshadow. It does crease for me after 6 hours, but I am very satisfied with the wear (mainly because I don't wear eyeshadow without primer anymore)! Although I only have two of these eyeshadows (the other being Bold Gold), but I definitely think that this is a must have!

Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Concealer in Buff

This highlight/concealer combination duo is amazinggg! This is great for concealing dark circles under my eyes as well as highlighting various parts of the face. The consistency is very thick, which allows for a full coverage for underneath the eyes. Two clicks of this concealer is usually enough to both highlight and conceal my face. Unfortunately, the shade selection isn't the best for this concealer, but if you are a Light-Medium skintone, this is something you should definitely try!

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Sweetheart

Talk about a moisturizing stain! Besides my Baby Lips, this has to be one of my most moisturizing lip products that I own. Sweetheart is a bright pink that is perfect to wear when you want the right pop of color on your lips.

Rimmel Scandaleyes Kohl Kajal Waterproof Eyeliners
From Left to Right: Black, Deep Blue, Nude, Silver, and Taupe

These eyeliners rock! They last through the heat and humidity of Florida weather and they are so pigmented! There are 9 different eyeliners with this collection, which is a variety that one doesn't normally find in the drugstore. These eyeliners are really creamy, and I love using them in the waterline and tightline.

Wet n' Wild Take on the Day Primer

I'm completely sold on this eyeshadow primer. I have worn eye makeup for over 12 hours and it stayed put, even when I went to the beach! I probably won't even try cult favorites such as Urban Decay's Primer Potion, Too Faced Shadow Insurance, or Nars eyeshadow base because I don't need too. That's how awesome this is!

What is your favorite drugstore items? Do you agree with me or disagree with me? Let me know in the comments below!
