Hey guys! So today I will be doing a review of the Jordana Twist & Shine Moisturizing Balm Stain. I currently own four colors (Cranberry Crush, Honey Love, Rock n Rouge, and Sweet Pink), and I now feel after trying it for over a couple of months year now I am finally ready to review them!

My favorite Balm Stain out of the ones I own is Cranberry Crush. For me, this is a wearable berry that I think a lot of people would wear, and not be afraid to do so. Honey Love is very reminiscent of Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Honey. It is a tad bit darker, but is still a flattering my lips but better lipstick. If you are looking for a brown nude lip product that is similiar to the whole Kylie Jenner craze going on right now, think about getting Honey Love (its also a bit more wearable because of the shine). Rock n Rouge is a blue toned red. While blue toned reds are nice to have on hand, I prefer a much deeper red (I'm still trying to find something to replace my beloved Mac Viva Glam I). Sweet Pink is a blue toned baby pink. Initially, I did not like this color but it keeps growing on me... but to be honest I haven't used it that much.

These lip products are sheer at the first swipe of application, but they are very buildable. One shades that exemplify buildability of these lip products is Cranberry Crush. Looking at the initial swatch above, you would think that this would be a sheer product. However, the more you layer this one the more the true color shows through. As such, this berry is a very wearable one. The range of pigment with these pigments I feel will satisfy a wide range of people   from beginners who may want to branch out to bright lip products but want to go slowly to lip junkies like me who sometimes need a multitasking lip product where the amount of color on the lips can be controlled simply by the pressure of application.

The staying power is about the same as a normal lipstick. For me, I don't mind that these do not have a long staying power, but I know I can not depend on these lip products to carry me through on a long day. I also find that these bleed outside my lip line as the day goes on. I don't find that these lip products ever actually set, they remain glossy through their wear and will transfer to your drinks, straws, or even chin (but maybe the whole lip products transferring to the chin occurs because I have big lips and all).

Cranberry Crush

Honey Love

Rock n Rouge

Sweet Pink

My final thoughts? To be honest, I do not think these will be something I will gravitate to often. My favorite out of here is Cranberry Crush and Honey Love and I know I will be wearing these often in the Fall, but I don't anticipate getting much use out of Sweet Pink and Rock n Rouge. To be honest, I kind of sick of the jumbo lip product trend... I prefer the formulation of a lipstick much more than jumbo lip products. I'll probably still get sucked back into the trend if I find something I really love... until then I'm going to stick to lipsticks. I only see myself repurchasing Cranberry Crush and Honey Love if they run out (mainly because those two colors are a bit more unique in my collection). If you are looking for a versatile lip product where you can control the color payoff, these might be something you may want to look into.

What do you guys think? Have you guys tried these before? Let me know!

  1. Awww, sorry to hear you've gotten a bit sick of the crayons! I still love crayons but I buy them one at a time because I really need a moisturizing formula! I was so close to ordering some of these online some months ago but decided not to because I'm collecting lipsticks now!

  5. I kept putting off this review because I hate taking lip product swatches, my lips get so dry after all the color removal :( But yes, Cranberry Crush and Honey Love are the best!

  19. HAHA, sometimes time just flies by and months become a year ._.
I still need to get on Cranberry Crush--everytime I see a Dollar Tree in Toronto I get excited, hoping that I'll find Jordana BUT I NEVER DO. (ONE DAY WHEN I GO BACK TO THE STATES -shakes fist-) For me, SHEER + GLOSSY JUMBO CRAYONS > LIPSTICKS ANY DAY

  20. That's totally true....totally avoided doing this post because I absolutely hate lip swatches >.< Bro, I'll just mail it to you if you want anything from Jordana :P All you have to do is ask, and it shall be done! I prefer lipsticks, but my preferences do change... I was on the jumbo crayon bandwagon a year or so back so who knows, maybe I'll jump right back!

  21. Hi again Pauline! Have you tried jumbo lip products from other brands as well as if so, which one would you consider a favorite? :)

  22. Nars has really nice jumbo lip products, I really like the formula there! Revlon also has really nice (also helps that they are also really affordable). I don't actually have a favorite to be honest, been searching for the best but haven't found one yet (although I've been dying to try Bite Beauty jumbo lip products for awhile now!)

  23. I've heard great things about Bite Beauty lip products and I like that their finishes (at least from reviews I've seen) appear to be demi-matte. Plus, it doesn't hurt that they have added benefits infused in them. :)
